What does MicroBioDx do?  With no upfront cost to your practice, we install turnkey molecular PCR labs in physician offices. We handle licensing, equipment,  and personnel selection, management and training. 

Who do we serve? Podiatry, Urgent Care, Primary Care, Urologists, OBGYN, ENT, Pediatrics, and others with 5-10 or more samples per workday. Hospital labs are also clients. 

Why would a physician install their own lab for this testing? First, the molecular testing is very rapid (within 1 hour) and accurate for specific pathogens. Second, we include antibiotic resistance markers on our tests. Third, physicians can bill for tests they run in their own lab and keep the revenue.  

How much do these tests reimburse? On average Medicare pays more than $600 to 1000 per sample in many regions of the country for these tests. Most private and commercial insurance plans pay for in office testing as well. 

How much can a practice make? A practice that runs just 5 molecular Nail Fungal, Wound, UTI, and/or Respiratory infection tests per workday can potentially make $25k-70K or more profit per month. It can be any combination of tests, such as 1 wound and 4 nail panels a day.

How do you get started?  We gather data for a practice profile and prepare a pro-forma and schedule based on your sample type, volume, and insurance mix. The contracts are executed, and installation and training are scheduled. Typical setup takes about 4 weeks after contracts are signed. 

Does this take up much space? Just a small room with a 6-8 foot long table for equipment. 

How compliant is the program?  Your practice will own the lab. We provide all the equipment, supplies, staffing help, and third party lab billing introductions if needed.

Do insurance plans cover these in office tests? Yes, most health plans within your own practice contracts including Medicare will cover these medically necessary PCR tests in a physician offices.
